The Festival Schedule
The festival consists of four days of activities cumulating in Race Day on
Saturday 25th September.
The
following list describes the schedule for a typical World Airline Road Race
Festival. The schedule for London may deviate from
this.
Wednesday 22nd:
- Registration
Participants pick up their race packets including their
running numbers,
- The WARRtering Hole
A convenient meeting point for Airline WARRiors - including acquaintances old and new; adjacent to a bar.
Thursday 23rd:
- Registration and WARRtering Hole continue,
- Team Captains' Meeting,
- Future WARR Meeting,
- Mayor’s Reception
Team Captains meet with the local dignitary,
- The Meet and Greet
An informal evening get together for all
participants.
Friday 24th:
- Registration and WARRtering Hole continue,
- The T Shirt Party
The popular pre-race event where teams
display the shirts that they have had specially designed
for the event and swap shirts with other Airline WARRiors,
- The T Shirt Competition
The first award of the week
to the team whose T Shirt design is judged the most appropriate for the event.
September 25th Race Day:
- 10k Race
Likely to be an early start time,
- 5k Race
Typically starting just ninety minutes after the start of the 10k,
- Gala Awards Dinner
The formal dinner for Airline WARRiors. The evening includes the presentation of awards in each age category, for individuals and teams, for each race and overall.
There are also participation awards relating to size of team and distance
travelled. The evening may be interspaced with local entertainment, and is completed with a dance.
